The Circus is in town and its at the American Airlines Center for the beginning of August!
If pies in your face and giant elephants doing tricks aren’t your cup of tea you can always enjoy a good book.
Then again Brad‘s book is an “explosive thriller” about the governments deep dark list. Oh My! Ok enough of these unique events how about we check in with a PSD favorite venue. The Winspear Opera House has two major events for August. 1st up is the duo of Brian Culbertson & David Sanborn.
August 14th-26th is easily my pick of the month, Chicago at the Winspear.
That week also happens to be the main week of KRLD’s annual Restaurant Week here in DFW (and surrounding areas).
How about those fine folks at the Nasher Sculpture Center? They have a few events, Neto’s Cuddle on the Rope is still here thru Sept. 9th and they always have the fun 1st Saturdays of the month (the 4th for August). But make sure you check out the wonderful line-up they have for ‘Til Midnight at the Nasher. We’re talking Smile Smile (make sure to tell lovely Jencey congrats on her engagement to Cole!) and then Woody Allen’s wonderful Midnight in Paris out on the Nasher lawn amongst the statutes. The Nasher does have another fun event later in the month as they continue their 360 series with Artist Kathryn Andrews.
4/20 fun? How about putting this in your pipe and smoking it.
Director Andrew Disney will be at the screening so make sure to save a few hits for the local talent. You’ll love this funny murder mystery.
Speaking of quality movies at the Angelika Theater make sure you venture to either Dallas or Plano to see Beasts of the Southern Wild (out now) or the NC-17 thrill ride that is Killer Joe (out August 3rd in Dallas and 10th for Plano, check back Friday for more about this film!), But two more picks to keep an eye out for. Plano Angelika has one of my favorite documentaries of the year, Searching for Sugar Man coming August 17th. And Dallas folks you can’t go wrong with this adorable fella.
Time to celebrate a masterpiece, with the 45th Anniversary of Director Mike Nichols iconic film that launched Dustin Hoffman’s career and made us all sing along to any and every Simon & Garfunkel song, The Graduate at the Angelika Dallas!
Over in funky town Fort Worth get ready to go all RED as the RUSSIANS are coming!!

Starting August 29th and lasting thru September 30th the Dallas Theater Center brings these funny folks to the Wyly Theater.
