The twin brothers are embarking on a Western film project that they wrote and will have Joseph Matarrese directing while Phillip Matarrese produces. Click thru to get to know the Matarrese Brothers and what they are setting out to do this summer.
The bros have gone from college short films all the way to Cannes, and now they set their sights on Montana. Huh? Before we venture off to Montana, we started our chat in San Francisco.
The brothers love of film began a lot earlier though.
The brothers expanded on the whole film vs digital battle and why they are totally on the film side.
I asked the guys how they made the jump from San Fran to LA.
So who does what?
I asked what the guys’ like in a cinematographer (shout out to DP Rob Hauer!!).
We started talking about the goals of the brothers and why exactly they are jumping into the directing side of things.
The project the brothers have now embarked on is called…
I had to ask why choose such a unique state to shoot in.
We talked more about having a strong female lead for the film.
With all the changes in climate in Montana I asked when the guys are hoping to shoot the film.
Montana being such an isolated location choice, I asked the brothers about how they would handle having their crew out there and we discussed the “family style shoot”.
This got us talking about the look of the film as a whole.
I ended things by asking more about who are the cinematographers that they look up to.
“Simple and Beautiful” – great way to end things!
The brothers are prepping to head out for the shoot next month. We’ll keep in touch with Phillip and Joseph and the American Homestead film project, so expect updates!!!
