The 12th Annual Equity & Diversity Conference was held at the University of North Texas on February 7th, 2012.   One of the keynote speakers was columnist and LGBT activist Dan Savage.  Click thru for more info on the conference and a video with portions of Dan’s speech to a packed house.

The conference’s moniker for this year was, “The Power of Peace is the Harmony of Inclusion.”.    The UNT Division of Institutional Equity & Diversity and the Multicultural Center presented the one day conference.  The days’ events revolved around two keynote speakers and numerous concurrent sessions.

Chelle Wilson, a motivational speakers and entrepreneur, was the afternoon keynote speaker as Dan lead off the morning session.  The sessions represented numerous points of view and also numerous DFW colleges.  UNT, Sam Houston State University, Texas State University, University of Dallas, Stephen F. Austin, TCU and even Indiana University were all represented through the 8am-5pm conference.  A good friend, Dr. J. Michael Cruz of Southern Methodist University, held a lecture on “Learning Through Doing: Engaging Students From Classroom to Community”.

The experts and professors lectured and educated a captive college audience with varying subjects and topics discussed.  Overall a grand conference that was highlighted by Dan Savage’s appearance.
